Mechanical Design Drafter – AutoCAD & Inventor
Location: Onsite | Memphis
Overview
A leading engineering and manufacturing organization is seeking a Mechanical Design Drafter with expertise in 2D and 3D drafting software to join its collaborative design team. This role is ideal for candidates with a mechanical background who enjoy creating precise layouts and technical drawings in a fast-paced, production-driven environment. You’ll work on a range of mechanical system designs, contributing to the delivery of customized engineering solutions for customer approval and internal use.
Responsibilities

Create mechanical system layout drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor based on pre-engineered product designs and customer specifications.

Interpret and work from engineering documents, architectural plans, and survey data to produce accurate 2D and 3D drawings.

Process submittal layouts according to daily production schedules while adhering to internal quality standards.

Review technical instructions and engineering inputs to ensure all drawings meet required specifications and compliance standards.

Participate in team meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support design accuracy, process improvements, and knowledge sharing.

Maintain awareness of multiple product lines and their mechanical/electrical requirements to ensure effective and adaptable design execution.
Required Skills

Proficient in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor with hands-on experience in both 2D and 3D drafting.

Strong mechanical aptitude, preferably with experience designing mechanical components or systems.

Ability to read and interpret building plans, engineering documentation, and technical instructions.

Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment with a focus on design efficiency and accuracy.

Excellent attention to detail, time management, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience designing layouts for engineered-to-order (ETO) or customizable mechanical systems.

Familiarity with hydraulic or traction-based mechanical systems is a plus.

Associate degree or higher in Mechanical Design, Drafting Technology, or a related field is preferred.
