Job Description

The Manager, Search & Social Media Activation is responsible for leading a team of Media Buyers in establishing a world-class in-house operation within their respective Media Channel vertical. They translate the Strategy Team’s media plan into channel specific media activations, including campaign set up, QA, optimization and complete execution. They are also responsible for providing data-driven feedback on campaigns’ strategic success in order to improve future media plans.

Position Functions:

People Growth/Coaching - (15% of time)

  • Fosters an inclusive environment for team members to be their whole selves & do their best work
  • Guides team members in setting goals and professional development timelines, providing regular, constructive feedback tied to specific performance and career goals
  • Holds team accountable to deliverable deadlines, coordinating between internal and external teams
  • Provides education and training on best practices, thought leadership, media principles, and industry at large
  • Coordinates with Media Lead on establishing a competitive interview process and maintain a steady, candidate pipeline to allow team growth in tune with organizational needs

Media Channel Optimization - (15% of time)

  • Responsible for overall Social & Search channel performance and achieving campaign objectives, including budget allocation across platforms and line items
  • Identifies opportunities for feature activation, including alphas/betas across platforms; continuously evaluates digital platforms & ad tech
  • Monitors trends, tools, opportunities and applications in biddable environments, and appropriately applies that knowledge in conjunction with performance teams

Tactical Planning - (15% of time)

  • Partners with Media Leads on campaign budgeting and forecasting
  • Researches innovative media solutions to augment & enhance Paid Media Strategist’s overarching campaign planning process
  • Identifies and creates scenario plans for potential incremental investments and capitalization on real-time opportunities

Storytelling, Communication & Reporting - (10% of time)

  • Coaches’ junior and senior team members on impactful insight reporting that is rooted in data and action items
  • Serves as overall channel SME and representative in executive meetings

Ad Operations - (10% of time)

  • Accountable for channel-specific trafficking & QA of live media, providing final sign-off on campaign builds before launch
  • Ensures adherence to brand safety, frequency guidelines, and ad quality across all active media
  • Manages and maintains external partnerships (ie publishers, tech platforms)
  • Implements and builds on best practices for bidding, budget management, ad operations and reporting

Project Management/Meetings - (35% of time)

  • Collaborates with Media Leads to have foresight and understanding of projects to maintain and adjust timing of deliverables for team at large
  • Leads frequent channel specific meetings focused around performance and project deliverables and provide wrap-up details to Media Lead

Job Requirements:

  • 2+ years managing a team of at least 3-4 people
  • 6+ years of experience executing campaigns within Social (ie Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn) and Search Platforms (both engine accounts & enterprise platform solutions)
  • Proven track record of relaying complex and cutting-edge SEM & Social media activation principles to ‘hands-on-keyboard’ team-members
  • Ability to understand and execute holistic digital strategies
  • Understanding of advanced analytics, attribution modeling and performance media; ability to analyze large data sets to provide insight and expertise on digital media executions
  • Ability to lead and assist in coaching, managing, and educating Sr. Media Buyers and Media Buyers, yet not hesitant to roll up their sleeves and be a ‘hand-on-keyboard’ practitioner
  • A collaborative, team-oriented manager with strong delegation and organization skills
