HR Generalist
Location: Onsite – Byhalia, MS
Overview
An established organization in the manufacturing and industrial sector is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support end-to-end employee lifecycle processes. This role will serve as a key resource to field HR leaders and local team members, ensuring efficient and compliant execution of HR operational functions across a diverse workforce, including both union and non-union employees.
Responsibilities

Serve as a first-line contact for employee inquiries related to policies, benefits, training, and general HR practices.

Provide offer letter recommendations and peer compensation analysis to support hiring decisions.

Manage onboarding for new hires, including documentation, system entry, and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Oversee employment eligibility processes such as I-9 verification, e-Verify submission, background checks, and drug screen monitoring.

Process employee status updates (e.g., transfers, title changes, supervisor updates, pay rate changes) within internal HR systems.

Respond to inquiries related to time and attendance systems.

Coordinate final paycheck requests and initiate termination processes in alignment with labor relations protocols.

Run and distribute reports for HR, finance, and regional leadership.

Administer leave of absence processes including FMLA, ADA, return-to-work coordination, and third-party communication.

Maintain secure and up-to-date employee records in HR systems and physical files.

Support performance management tracking and compliance efforts.

Perform other HR support duties as assigned.
Required Skills

Minimum of 3 years of experience in human resources or business administration

Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Proficiency with HR systems and Microsoft Office applications

Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism

Experience supporting both union and non-union environments is a plus
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
