Tax Manager
Location: Memphis, TN (Hybrid)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead and oversee the daily operations of an enterprise-level tax function. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate tax reporting, maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and supporting strategic tax planning initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in tax accounting, leadership experience, and the ability to partner across multiple business functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage day-to-day tax operations across the organization
- Oversee preparation and timely filing of federal tax forms, including Forms 990 and 990T
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external advisors to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Provide strategic tax guidance to leadership, including planning for regulatory changes and organizational initiatives
- Supervise and mentor tax staff, fostering professional development and team performance
- Review tax-related documentation, including journal entries, reconciliations, and filings
- Ensure compliance with gaming and prize-related tax requirements
- Manage outsourced sales and use tax processes and ensure adherence to state regulations
- Serve as a key advisor on tax-related matters impacting organizational strategy and risk
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification required
- 5–8 years of progressive experience in tax accounting
- Strong understanding of GAAP and federal, state, and local tax regulations
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to develop and mentor team members
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Tax, or a related field
- Experience working in a nonprofit or complex enterprise environment
