Overview

We are seeking a Salesforce Platform Architect to own and advance the architecture, administration, governance, integration strategy, and long-term scalability of an enterprise Salesforce environment. This role requires a strong technical architect who can establish platform standards and roadmaps while remaining comfortable reviewing code, troubleshooting issues, coaching delivery teams, and providing hands-on administrative support when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define Salesforce architecture strategies, standards, governance practices, reference models, roadmaps, and future-state designs.

  • Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable Salesforce solutions.

  • Ensure the platform supports interoperability, data governance, security, reliability, and evolving business and technology priorities.

  • Monitor platform performance, troubleshoot critical issues, and review solution designs and code.

  • Coordinate changes across multiple Salesforce clouds and connected applications.

  • Guide API-first integration strategies involving MuleSoft, middleware, messaging infrastructure, and related integration patterns.

  • Define CI/CD pipelines and oversee release automation using Azure DevOps, Gearset, GitHub, testing automation, or similar supported tooling.

  • Manage Salesforce environments, sandboxes, release processes, technical documentation, and communication of platform changes.

  • Govern user and license administration, including roles, profiles, permissions, public groups, organization-wide defaults, and sharing rules.

  • Oversee Salesforce configuration, including Flow, approval processes, assignment rules, fields, page layouts, record types, apps, actions, reports, and dashboards.

  • Improve data quality and platform reliability through validation rules, automation, proactive maintenance, security reviews, release evaluations, health checks, and Salesforce Optimizer reviews.

  • Support user adoption through ticket resolution, training, stakeholder communication, and clear explanations of design options and impacts.

  • Establish reusable data models and governance practices that promote consistency across teams using the platform.

  • Provide architectural guidance to product teams, delivery partners, managed service providers, vendors, and third-party application providers.

  • Coach technical teams on Salesforce best practices and step into hands-on work when critical issues require direct support.

  • Evaluate the architectural implications of platform upgrades and technical changes.

  • Apply Agile and waterfall delivery practices as appropriate, including work managed through Azure DevOps.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in computer science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent technical experience.

  • Typically 10 or more years of IT experience, including more than five years working with Salesforce as a primary platform.

  • Strong Salesforce product knowledge and hands-on Salesforce administration experience.

  • Salesforce Certified Administrator.

  • Experience designing Salesforce platform architecture, target-state solutions, technical roadmaps, architecture principles, and governance standards.

  • Experience with Salesforce Manufacturing Cloud, Sales Cloud, and Service Cloud.

  • Experience with MuleSoft and Salesforce integration architecture.

  • Experience with Gearset or similar Salesforce DevOps and release-management tooling.

  • Understanding of APIs, middleware, messaging, CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and integrations between Salesforce and connected applications.

  • Experience managing Salesforce security, permissions, sharing models, environments, releases, configuration, data quality, and platform reliability.

  • Ability to monitor and troubleshoot Salesforce environments and review technical designs and code.

  • Experience conducting architecture reviews, technology evaluations, current-state assessments, risk assessments, and compliance reviews.

  • Knowledge of Agile and waterfall delivery methodologies and tools such as Azure DevOps.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts, architecture decisions, risks, and design options to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

  • Ability to establish standards, influence delivery teams, manage change, resolve competing priorities, and operate effectively in an evolving environment.

  • Willingness to balance strategic architecture responsibilities with administrative and hands-on platform support when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Salesforce Maps, or CRM Analytics.

  • Additional Salesforce certifications, such as Platform Integration Architect or Platform Developer.

  • Experience with GitHub and automated testing frameworks.

  • Experience communicating architecture standards and educating technical teams on platform best practices.
