Overview

Lead enterprise computing and storage services across data centers, manufacturing facilities, and public cloud environments. This role combines infrastructure strategy with accountability for reliable daily operations, disaster recovery, financial performance, and the development of geographically distributed technical teams.

You will direct internal employees and managed service providers supporting business-critical applications, balancing availability, security, performance, and cost. The scope includes server platforms, operating systems, enterprise storage, backups, cloud infrastructure, and ongoing technology modernization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery and support of computing, storage, backup, disaster recovery, data center, and cloud infrastructure services.

• Set infrastructure strategy, architecture standards, capacity plans, and technology road maps that support business priorities and operational resilience.

• Maintain service stability through monitoring, service-level objectives, incident and problem management, change control, and continuous improvement.

• Ensure high-availability and disaster recovery capabilities are documented, tested, and maintained to protect critical systems and applications.

• Direct hardware and software selection, deployment, patching, maintenance, and refresh programs across Windows, Unix/Linux, and other enterprise computing platforms.

• Improve efficiency through automation, standardization, virtualization, consolidation, and effective asset and configuration management.

• Own infrastructure budgets, resource planning, expense reconciliation, variance analysis, and cost-benefit decisions for staffing, services, licensing, and maintenance.

• Manage vendor and managed service provider performance through service agreements, metrics, scorecards, commercial negotiations, and improvement plans.

• Recruit, develop, and retain technical employees through coaching, career planning, cross-training, knowledge sharing, and workforce planning.

• Partner with business leaders, application teams, facility IT, project managers, and service providers to support business changes, acquisitions, and divestitures.

• Lead a customer-focused operating model supporting services on a 24×7 basis, with occasional travel to meet distributed team members.

Required Qualifications

• College degree.

• 10–15+ years of information technology experience in application and systems administration, with significant infrastructure leadership experience.

• Experience owning enterprise-scale infrastructure operations, including uptime, disaster recovery, business continuity, and service delivery.

• Experience managing technical employees, vendors, and managed service providers, with demonstrated people development skills.

• Cloud platform experience with AWS, Azure, and/or GCP, plus general knowledge of hyperscaler infrastructure-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service solutions.

• General knowledge of Windows, Unix, and Linux operating systems; enterprise server hardware architectures, including x86/x64, Itanium, and SPARC; and SAN storage, backup, and disaster recovery technologies.

• Strong financial management and cost-benefit analysis skills, including infrastructure budget and cost management experience.

• Familiarity with ITIL processes for availability, capacity and performance, incidents, problems, infrastructure and platform management, change control, monitoring, and events.

• Ability to communicate technical concepts, strategy, and business impact clearly to executives, business stakeholders, and technical teams.

• Strong interpersonal, negotiation, conflict-management, and influencing skills, with the ability to set direction and hold teams accountable for results.

• Experience navigating a complex global, multi-business organization and collaborating across geographically and culturally distributed teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree emphasis in computer science, computer engineering, or another IT-focused discipline.
