Overview
A leading engineering and manufacturing organization is seeking a Systems Engineer – Manufacturing I to support the design and development of custom mechanical systems within an engineer-to-order environment. This role focuses on creating detailed layout drawings based on customer specifications, building plans, and pre-engineered product standards.
The ideal candidate will have a foundational background in mechanical design and drafting, along with the ability to collaborate across teams to support production schedules and continuous improvement initiatives. This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to real-world engineering projects in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Design mechanical system layouts based on predefined engineering standards, customer requirements, and building specifications
- Develop 2D and 3D layout drawings using drafting and modeling tools
- Interpret engineering documents, product specifications, and survey data to produce accurate and manufacturable designs
- Process and deliver layout submittals in alignment with daily production schedules and performance targets
- Review drawings and documentation to ensure compliance with quality standards and design requirements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support process improvements, problem-solving efforts, and project execution
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to ongoing operational and engineering initiatives
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- 1–3 years of experience in an engineering or design-focused role (mechanical, structural, or architectural preferred)
- Foundational understanding of mechanical systems, physics, and motion dynamics
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation
- Working knowledge of drafting principles and design best practices
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality work
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with 2D drafting tools such as AutoCAD
- Exposure to 3D modeling software
- Familiarity with manufacturing or engineer-to-order environments
- Understanding of design considerations related to manufacturability and assembly
